This happened over 20 years ago now, sometime in the winter of 2001/2002 when I was working at the front desk of a large hotel. The hotel was a block from a large events center, which made it popular for anyone going to an event at the center. Most of the time, the students will put their room numbers in the delivery app, and the driver will just bring it up. Sometimes, the driver doesn’t have a room number, so they’ll just drop it off at the desk the student to then quickly grab from me and shimmy away. This time…. Was different. One of the students ordered a large quantity of ...The church paid the hotel for the room. Guest thought they would get a refund to them and not the church. It seems like all they wanted was the money and not the room. This dude came in and was asking about the rates. I gave them to him, then he was like, "I'm the owner." I was like, "No. No you're not." He proceeded to tell me that the cameras were recording me, as if I can't see the footage in the back. And insisted he was the owner. I told him I know the owner, and it's not him.I love arguing with guests about fees /s. again, obligatory sorry for the formatting i'm pretty mobile app bound until i get a new pc or laptop. anyway I'm on the night audit; it's the only one our owner/GM owns and he always says when someone wants to cancel after the cutoff time (6pm) we need to call him and let him know the situation ...Similar story, but far more embarrassing. Hubby and I booked a weekend getaway across the state. When we got to the room we only had one thing on our minds which involved a lot less clothing than we had on at checkin. The church paid the hotel for the room. Guest thought they would get a refund to them and not the church. It seems like all they wanted was the money and not the room.If you work hard and do everything, you will get picked at. If you fuck off all shift, you get promotions and big smiles from managers. duardoblanco • 42 min. ago. Projecting their failures. They probably said it without even looking at the stock. It happens all the time in service. Every actual worker knows who sucks. You'd have to use really pure water to rinse otherwise mineral will dry on the mag strip and potentially harm the doors sensors. You should invent a device that sanitizes a lot of cards at once, patent it and sell it to hotels and any other company that uses some kind of key card system. The church paid the hotel for the room. I just spent ten minutes being yelled at by some redacted who not only booked by an OTA but also got them to cancel a non-cancellable non-refundable reservation.Researchers think high blood pressure is the most common cause of a rupture. Higher blood pressure makes blood push harder against blood vessel walls. Situations that can increase blood pressure and lead to a brain aneurysm rupture include: Ongoing stress or a sudden burst of anger or other strong emotion. If this is a situation where you or a friend is trying to hide in a hotel, talk to the front desk. They’ll help you, but it can be difficult to accomplish if they don’t already have a system in place. I’m FDA and here’s what I’d do. Reasoning: following shift changes, it’s easy to forget individual guest details.Well, shortly after FOM calls on his day off to tell FDS that we are increasing their nightly rate by $128, nearly double their negotiated rate. The guest happened to be in the lobby and waived FDS over after the call to show her the lovely messages FOM was sending the guest. WELLLLLL apparently FOM borrowed $200 from the guest previously, and ...This last tale is mostly just an annoying coworker that either intentionally or unintentionally makes my job harder. This coworker is the last of the previous batch that was hired under old management that was using the hotel as a front to sell drugs and get money from pimps, (long story) and her work ethic hasn't changed under new management.stories from the front desk of hotels/hostels/and others in the hospitality industry. Let's count the red flags. #1 The owner is calling after hours. #2 The owner is calling at all instead of leaving it for management. #3 The owner asks for a pic of the fire extinguisher. If this is a situation where you or a friend is trying to hide in a hotel, talk to the front desk. Maybe I’m being overly sensitive. r/Talesfromthefrontdesk What happens when you tell a spoiled adult customer that she can't listen to loud music in the hotel lobby? I am finally telling my own crazy story here after a couple months of night audit. I work audit for a 150 room property and we happened to be completely sold out for (mostly) a Morgan Wallen concert in town. It was probably the busiest shift I have had so far. I didn't really get a break from people either buying things from our market, requesting ... r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk: A place where people from the hotel (mostly) industry can come and share the stories of the things our guests do and say …Excuse Me, Sir, Where Are Your Parents? On my first day back from my time off, I was saddled with a buttload of check-ins. All was going well, until I saw a child (an actual child, maybe about 7 or 8) marching up to the entrance with a suitcase. I felt a little tinge of PTSD from the demon spawn we recently had, but I tried to muster up some ...Read the email. Check in is at 4. We’ll have your room ready by 3, perhaps earlier, but it largely depends on how busy we are. Check out is at 11. Never caused any problems. The trash cans are near vending machines because you're expected to consume right by the vending machine and toss your trash there. But there's no trash can readily available out on the streets/park, etc. Street food vendors sell their ware with expectations that customers would eat right there and hand trash right back to them.I have a few years experience as a front desk associate. So, not much. I’ve worked at 2 different hotels. The first hotel I worked at had a very very strict policy that hotel staff are not allowed to stay in the hotel as guests.A good remedy for heat burns is cold water, changed frequently. Since you work in a hotel, grab an ice bucket, about 6 ice cubes and fill it full enough with water to submerge what's hurt. Change the water every 15 minutes for an hour. Thankfully, it's not too bad. 8.2K views 3 weeks ago. Welcome to the wonderful, wild world of r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk! What was your favorite story out of these?!1.My General Manager didn't talk to me at all once I announced that I am leaving the hotel to head my career into Sales. He gets really personal and salty once people starts leaving his property and blacklist anyone who does. I knew it was going to happen to me too since I knew that he did it to everyone who left.As per my last post I shared with y’all that he so far is just getting written up and that’s it. Well I just got a call from my manager that she is indeed firing him now and will have to switch around my schedule a bit for this week because of it. Apparently yesterday she accidentally left her flash drive and usually when that happens one ...I have a story for you that goes back a couple of decades. This actually puts it back into the early 90's. I received a call from one of our rooms. I was working for R hode I sland by Parriott. The female guest was screaming at me. She said that I purposely am trying to ruin her vacation. She asked for pricing and it was about $160 for the night, warm weather and graduations and all. As long as her husband said it was okay they’d take it she said, so she was waiting on him to reply back. Then she said she’d had an issue at the hotel next door and I wanted to know what had happened, I thought she meant she’d had a poor stay.OnQ has a system where it will look at your no shows and availability and will set up a system to be overbooked so you can get that clean fill status. You can override the number they overbook you by but its a "feature". Check the alternate room type settings in the echeckin dashboard. The Mister Patel Scam. Well kids, your favorite Second House Suites night auditor made a bit of a goof tonight. Thankfully, not a massive one. So I get a call from a Mr. Patel, who says he is one of the owners and there was an issue with a package coming via FedEx International. Okay.Got to use my favorite comeback for a jackass. There's a concert in town tonight. Which usually means on my shift I will have more than the usual (most of the time zero) number of jackasses, drunk or otherwise, on my night audit shift. Our hotel has a front parking lot, and a back parking lot (just as big) on the other side of the hotel.lol. I'm just picturing the GM of some hole in the wall on the side of a highway with a tall sign advertising rooms for $39.99 reading this and bubbling over with a smug sense of pride. Reasoning: following shift changes, it’s easy to forget individual guest details.A few years ago, in my last job, I worked as the night auditor in a fairly upscale hotel in the college town of Lawrence, KS, in which I covered the front desk and was basically the only hotel employee on duty from 11 at night until 7 in the morning. I have quite a few good stories from those night, so here are a couple to start out with. At 3 am he comes back out in just his boxers. He is a man in his 70's, short, bald, out of shape, and to be frank, he probably wouldn't have been physically attractive even if none …Tall swivel chair behind the front desk, or the big comfy chairs in the lobby. If it's hot and humid I'll take my laptop and the cordless phone into the breakfast room where the AC is better. I'm spoiled here by the lack of work and the subsequent leeway.2 short tales for this evening. Well my friends, I'm working on my 6th day: 3 afternoons, 3 Overnights. Why I did this to myself I'll never know, next week I'll do it again. Oh yes, I remember, the things I do to get a weekend off. Tonight we shall have 2 short tales for you, they may entertain, they may confuse, maybe I'm just super tired.r/Talesfromthefrontdesk What happens when you tell a spoiled adult customer that she can't listen to loud music in the hotel lobby? She calls her mommy on yo...The good news is that incidents like this are rare. The bad news is that they do occur. I've worked at my current property for 11+ years, and we've only had one issue, a wallet that had been turned in to lost and found by a gust had not been claimed in a few days, and also had not gone through the proper process, anyway one of the Night Auditors decided to take …Now there's me - your friendly neighborhood night auditor, working his usual overnight shift in a small 60 room hotel in the south edge of the international airport. Now let's bring in Kevin the Terrible and his wife Karen the Crabby. They've had a terrible day.I let him know a room had suddenly opened up and we were able to get him in for tonight. He comes back in, we get everyone checked in properly, and just like that we're saved from a potentially bad review. He came down about an hour later just to let me know how grateful he was. To him it was an actual miracle. The place where tourists are decent people who stay in hotels. But decent locals stay in their houses (unless they burn down). The locals that check into local hotels are the ones who are there to do drug binges, cheat on their spouses, engage in criminal behavior, etc. No. Unfortunately they don't. They feel entitled.
