At $20 for 9 nibs, that means $60 of added cost per year. These devices are already an expensive, unnecessary luxury. An extra $60 per year made it tough for me to justify. Comparing the Supernote a5x to reMarkable 2I've had both the Remarkable 2, the Supernote A5X, and the Supernote A6X. Ended up selling the Remarkable and A5X because the portability of the A6X won out in the end. And it has black, gray and white. Supernote lets me adjust the fineliner output in increments of 0.10mm, and has black, two grays, and white. I write headings in 0.30mm and do notes in 0.20mm fineliner. Again: clean, precise, easy to read. Here's why I picked up the A5x instead of the remarkable 2. Supernote doesn't have a subscription model. I have all my notes all the time with Google drive. Stock the supernote comes with lined engineering paper. You'll need that for statics, dynamics, thermo, and any other classes that require engineering paper. I got 2 USB-c keys and just exported berthing to the key and then onto the laptop. I own a Remarkable 2, Boox Max Lumi 2, Super note A6X, and a Fujitsu Quaderno A5. I honestly think the Fujitsu is the best device overall. Good writing experience, easy to transfer pdfs to and from, and I don’t have the same security concerns I have with Boox/Supernote devices.I think the Supernote is a lot more sturdy and can handle falls more easily, and I'm pretty clumsy, so I'd prefer a device that can handle a bit more. I generally get the impression that the Remarkable 2 is a great choice for sketching and using as a pure notebook, and that its best feature is writing feel. The Remarkable 2 delivers that consistently. Apple says the iPad and Apple pen latency is 9 milliseconds, but again there is a perceptual quality that comes into play.
