Miata reddit of Technology

My ownership review of a heavily modified Mia.

Bob Hall is known as the father of the Miata. The creation of every new car is a team effort, but he is the person who drove/led the original front engine, rwd prototype design for the original Miata. Edit to add: The original Miata was designed with the idea of the classic British roadsters in mind.I'm suprised at the low amount of roll the BRZ/86 has! The miata looks like a ship in a storm almost ;) Guess it's down to the Boxer engine and the low roll center of the BRZ/86. And the extra 100mm track width. My brother recently got the new Boss Laguna Seca, and I'm due to pick up my 86 very soon as well.Other than an electric version in 2023, I would expect a new generation in 2026. Since the NB, each generation matures on the 6’s with the final year being on the 5’s. NB was 99-05, NC was 06-15, and ND is 16-present. The NA is a fluke with 89 to 97 and no 98 model. And yes, NE being fully electric would be nice branding. Then Miata. Also the Miata gets like 40mpg highway which is nice. Do you want more power and want a car that balances some fun with being a good daily, then the mustang ecoboost is for you. While the current mustang handles ok, its no Miata, the suspension is too soft, the steering too imprecise, and its heavy.I have seen some that are cheaper on 25k range with the same mileage but others are like 26-27. It probably has some nice options on it if it was 28k. The asking price is actually $25900, then tax pumps it up. Maybe you are looking at the grey one pending for me haha. Yup. 28 with all tax and fees is pretty decent.Compared to my stock 01 Miata the fiesta is honestly the better drivers car. Less body roll, sharper turn in, less understeer, and a bit quicker. I was shocked by how well it handled. The GTI, Mini, and SI all have a much nicer more refined interior and better ride. The Fiesta is easily the most hardcore of the bunch. I can’t say anything for the NC, other than they look funky to me unless done correctly lol. But as far as between the NA and the NB, is pick the NB. I’ve always heard the saying that the NA is the better Miata, but the NB is the better car. Basically one is a smiley boi with pop ups and the other drives/handles better. The car was designed in California using the dimensions of the average sized male human, though I am not sure what race they may have used. I suspect they used a bell curve, where the average height is 5' 8" with allowances for +/- 4 inches. edit: Um, quite a few of us actually want an NC thankyouverymuch. 2.Hey Guys, I have a NB with a Rotrex SC with a piggyback looking to make the move to a full standalone ECU and would love some recommendations. Initially I was going to go with a MS or SpeedyEFI but a very reputable local tuner said both of those are some of the worst in the business. Their claim was that they are unreliable and give bad results ...Anyone have experience with JDM engines? So, the 1.6 short nose crank on my 1990 finally bit the dust. My options are pay $1000 to put a new crank in an engine with 140,000 miles or pay $550 for an imported engine from Japan with only 50,000 miles on it. Does anyone have any experience with one of these engines? Things to look for possibly? 8.Best I can suggest is to go test drive a few and make sure it's a solid 30-60 minute drive. EMTRN Evolution Orange • 9 yr. ago. Although I barely scrape 6 feet without a helmet, I have seen people 6'2-6'3 who competitively drive them. Racing seat and bracketing does wonders in terms of lowering you in the car.To be a comparable improvement to power/weight ratio he would have to cut about 340lbs, if my math is right. Assuming a stock weight of 2200lbs with a driver of 175lbs and 116hp. Stock 116hp/2375lbs = .0488 hp/lb. HP + 20 136hp/2375lbs = .0573 hp/lb. Weight - 30lb 116hp/2345lbs = .0495 hp/lb. Weight - 340lb 116hp/2035lbs = .0570 hp/lb.Compared to a Miata though, it’s a bit more complicated. The Miata is up front and straight forward. The only hard part is transmission removal and the cam angle sensor. The boxster general maintenance is easy enough, but some things are a little more complex. But that’s just the nature of a mid engine car. Actual speed - Miata Build quality - both kinda eh, rattles develop quickly in both but they both were subjected to terrible roads Ease of maintenance - miata, much cleaner engine bay Fun factor - miata, but only for it being a convertible. Both cars are a blast to drive. Practicality - fr-s Visibility - great in both Sound - miata The Miata is a fantastic car, the inputs are precise, the shifter is great, it's RWD, and a convertible. But, it's hard to put into words. There is a certain rawness to the Civics that I prefer. Pre 1991 Civics didn't have power steering, because they really didn't need it, which gives impeccable steering feel. May 10, 2023 · Reddit's r/miatalogistics Is a Tribute to the Real Ones. The last NAs were '97, and the NBs sold in '98 were labeled as '99 model year. All extant Miatas have good parts availability, both stock and aftermarket. Rust is the killer. You should be able to find easily since your more south. The NB is better in everyway than the NA.As a daily or as a weekend track car... Bet 90% of people voting haven't driven ether. Miata is more fun because on the road you're going to be using at most 60% of the Supra's potential, you can drive slower cars much harder without it getting too crazy. You also gain weight in the trans and diff. But swapping an LS into a Miata is like building a Camaro in a small body.
